deSide News
Here's a brief summary of how deSide® has been developed, through to the current day.
We are continuing to develop your deSide application and we would welcome any suggestions for improvement you might like to send in!
deSide version 2
Later in the year - Further enhancements to deSide are being planned.
January 2008 - deSide version 2-4 released, with an enhancement designed to deliver benefits (also) to the class of major energy user who is content to continue purchasing under standard arrangements (e.g. where you cannot, or are not willing to, pursue the benefits of curtailability).
February 2007 - deSide version 2-3 released, with major enhancements including:
(a) A Performance Monitor and reporting tool - which has been developed to regularly report back to us on the performance of your deSide Updater, in order that we can more quickly and accurately understand how we can continue to enhance the timeliness and reliability of the data feed
(The Performance Monitor is further discussed here). (b) A myLoads tab to facilitate your loading of your own load data into the deSide product framework - for use in the Analysis tab, and also in other features that will be added later.
(The myLoads feature is further discussed here). (c) A complete rebuild of the Analysis tab to make it much easier to use for you to:i. Trend prices, demand and other data (further discussed here);
ii. Calculate price duration curves i.e. counting the number of hours when the price has been above a trigger price that you might respond to (further discussed here);
iii. Generating a summary chart of the potential benefits of certain levels of curtailability for your pre-defined load type (further discussed here); and
iv. Investigating predispatch convergence for recent prices (further discussed here).
June 2006 - deSide version 2-2 released, with a number of minor enhancements (based on your suggestions, which were gratefully - please keep them coming!), and some significant refinements to the Analysis Component within deSide.
February 2006 - deSide version 2-1 released, with two models designed to deliver benefits to two types of energy user:
(a) The major energy user who is already an active participant, securing considerable savings on the cost of their electricity through the use of physical and/or financial approaches to hedging of their risk; and
(b) The major energy user who is not yet convinced of the benefits, but who is considering their options relating to a more active approach to electricity procurement.
With the release of deSide v2-1 (including this deSide Portal) we are making deSide more widely available to those who stand to benefit.2005 - deSide version 2-0 released to our select group of initial clients. A small number of other energy users were started with trials of the software for summer 2005-06.
deSide version 1
Late 2004 - a minor upgrade to deSide released in order to address some suggestions for improvement received from our first clients.
September 2004 - release of the new deSide® version 1 to provide the starting point for ongoing development of this key application. A handful of other clients were invited to trial deSide for summer 2004-05, after which these clients upgraded (from some of our other products) to deSide.
deSide version 0
March 2004 - a preliminary version of the new deSide application is released to our first client (a major Australian metals processing plant), whilst we began development of the first full release of deSide.
Prior to deSide
From as early as 2000 - We have been delighting many clients around Australia and internationally with a variety of different software products that have served as the starting point for development as deSide®.
Please be sure to let us know if you need any further assistance, in addition to what is available in this deSide Portal.
