The Regional Tabs

Regional display

For each region in the NEM, deSide has one tab that contains tables and charts with price, demand, and inter-regional flow data. Each regional display is made up of the following elements:

Region Trading Price Graph

The Region Trading Price Graph displays the 30 minute trading price together with forecast price sensitivities, regional demand, available generation, and any price thresholds you have configured (show me how to configure price thresholds).

The graph shows previous values for trading intervals that have elapsed, as well as forecast predispatch values.

Regional Predispatch Price Sensitivities

The Predispatch Sensitivities table shows the predispatch sensitivity data for the current region. Predispatch sensitivities are values that AEMO publish to allow for a more accurate view into the many possible future prices for a region. Each value is an estimate of what the next trading price would be if the demand for a related region changed.

To go into this in a little more detail, in the image to the below, you can see that the second entry from the top states:

QLD-500 $26.10

What this means, is that if the demand in Queensland was 500 MW less than expected, then that is the price that AEMO has estimated. This extends to other regions as well, as you can see in the image below, as the last entry reads:

NSW-500 $29.66

This is AEMO's estimate for what would happen to the next QLD trading price if the demand in NSW was suddenly 500 MW less than expected.

deSide Tip!
For any graph, if you hold down the left Shift key, and click on the title of the graph, you can directly change all the nitty-gritty details of the graph (including what is displayed, how it is displayed, and whether or not to show the legend).

In the screens above, the titles of the graphs are Queensland Trading (30 min) History and Forecast and Queensland Dispatch (5 min) History and Forecast
